The edition of Gustave Flaubert’s great symbolist novel, Salammbo, illustrated by Mackey, was published by Mandrake Press in 1930 as a limited addition.
Mackey was an acclaimed official war artist in the first world war and afterwards a highly respected artist of paintings, prints and illustrations. His work is in the permanent collections of the Imperial War Museum and the Royal Academy.
