Overall mount size: 30cm X 39cm
The horses: (Clockwise) 1. ‘Moses (Breathing after A Gallop)’ – “Property of His Royal Highness The Duke of York” (11cm X 12.5cm). 2. ‘Walton’ – “Property of Sir John Shelly, Baronet, MP” (11cm X 12.5cm). 3. ‘Princess Royal’ – “Property of Sir Thomas Mostyn, Baronet, MP” (9.5cm X 13cm). 4. ‘Head of the Bay Horse in Landseer’s The Shoeing’ (9.5cm X 12.5cm).
These etchings were part of a portfolio of etchings sent by the artist (then residing at Howlaffe Rectory), with his kind regards, to Sir Edward C. Cockburn, Baronet on January 1st 1873.
